The heart turns
windmills at night,
too close
to the runway
for our flight.
The blades cut
pieces of sky,
we crash
in the desert
for a while.
We ran away
like others might've done.
We're still on the run.
We're still on the run.
The heart rains,
thrones full of rust,
lovers
driving new roads
in old cars.
The heart sails
oceans of lust,
steering
by the crossing
of the stars.
We ran away
like others might've done.
We're still on the run.
We're still on the run.
I have to wait ’til he’s gone.
When you’ve stayed
in so many temporary homes,
you wake up, forget
which one was your own.
All this flux sucks,
this flooding in the sun.
We’re still on the run.
We're still on the run.
I think it's difficult to write songs about something other than romantic love, and still be able to communicate the intensity with which those feelings can hit a person. Some of the entries on this album are fantastic examples of this niche. dani_bloop
Keeps up the real good songwriting they've been doing ever since Kintsugi; has all the best elements of the band, great melodies and choruses, but they're also more mature now. Every album Death Cab seem to dig in deeper to the elements the initial albums were experimenting with, bringing it all together. Wolfwatching Music

“softcore mourn” from the UK act pizzagirl is a brightly-hued mash-up of razor-edged synthpop and emotional melodies. Bandcamp New & Notable Jul 24, 2021
Julien Baker is an acquired taste - assuming of course you’ve acquired great taste in singer songwriters… beautiful, devastating, honest, insightful… I’ve not heard a single song of hers that hasn’t left me in absolute awe. crisbroadhurst
