Worse Drifting even further from what I thought to be FPF's signature style, this release is altogether darker, but it also has a pulse. The electronics have moved past playing and focus instead on performing. It sacrifices simplicity for lovely, multi-layered complexity. It's a new direction that, while short-lived, undeniably teems with life. Favorite track: Fatherlight.

Crossing Out 04:20
1. Crossing Out You’re so tired ’cause you got up in the morning and you’re not a morning person but you understand the virtues of not knowing what goes on when everyone has gone to sleep. You’re so puzzled ’cause the cross words of the bible seem so cross they cancel out the love; in echoes through the empty church they’re crossing out the names of everyone who said they’d never change. Clocks are precious ’cause we often go unconscious and we want to see the morning sky break out from the darkness, though I know we’ll soon be gone, there’s part of me that thinks I’ll never die.

2. Timewave Zero I heard you screaming at the edge of the sky, screaming like a rocket at the end of time. I saw you freaking, getting out of line, with telepathic dreamers and their secret signs. There’s zero left There’s zero right There’s zero in our bodies but a lotta fight There’s zero ground There’s zero flight There’s zero in our wallets but a lotta fight. The cathode, the anode, and the holy grid, Reconnect the circuits of the things we did. They’re moving all the money to an arcane zone, timewave zero and a megaphone. There’s zero left There’s zero right There’s zero in our bodies but a lotta fight There’s zero ground There’s zero flight There’s zero in our wallets but a lotta fight. Drive across the country in a suicide bus with darkness in your heart and a light in your guts. Gravity’s pulling you below the line the x-ray’s deadly, but the bone is fine. There’s zero left There’s zero right There’s zero in our bodies but a lotta fight There’s zero ground There’s zero flight There’s zero in our wallets but a lotta fight.

Cyclone Sea 03:56
3. Cyclone Sea Does invention of the soul come from punishing the body? Or is madness of the lonely mind just a prison on a dead sea? There’s no center in this cyclone sea There’s no name for what you’re feeling There’s no sound out on the open sound as you drown what you’re concealing. We speak things no one can hear We echo in the sunlight We did not ask to be in this world but we want to see things put right There’s no center in this cyclone sea There’s no name for what you’re feeling There’s no sound out on the open sound as you drown what you’re concealing.

4. Figured It Out Now, sidewalks break up in my way, and from their windows people say: There goes that guy who cannot stay here. I figured it out myself, not even time to kill. I figured I’d out myself, this emptiness I feel for you. Cathedral clocks crack in the sky breaking in pieces, breaking lives, the second hands got in my way here. I figured it out myself, not even time to kill. I figured I’d out myself, this emptiness I feel for you.

Fatherlight 03:49
5. Fatherlight We are leaving our time now. We are leaving our time now. There are places where time moves more slowly than here. We honor all four directions, East, West, North, South… – Robert Bly In the fatherlight I lost my compass and I lost my sight. At the fireside I sat too close and then I burned my eyes And was it temperament that kept us from saying all the things we meant? fatherlight fatherlight fatherlight Hear the city call, with faster highways and with alcohol. Can we synchronize, with time so different, generation-wise? And was it temperament that kept us from saying all the things we meant? In the countryside, (so many things now I cannot tell you) I lost my country when I left your side. (the broken bones of a shattered world view) Now you think I’m gone, (and in the ER lights I saw you) but take my hand and let me prove you wrong…. (reaching up like you thought you might break through) fatherlight fatherlight And we also honor the fifth direction the vertical one, which is in us today, here.
